The vineyard work is made by experienced workers. We have 150 hectares of vines, of different ages, and a very special 75-year-old Castelão vineyard.

Quinta da Atela, located in the Charneca terroir — one of the three main terroirs in the Tejo wine region, on the left bank of the river — boasts unique natural resources and soil and climate conditions highly suitable for the production of high-quality wines, including whites, reds, rosés, and sparkling wines.

The property spans a total of 600 hectares, with 150 hectares dedicated to viticulture, in sandy soils. Here, you'll find grape varieties such as the whites Fernão Pires (the flagship white grape of the Tejo wine region), Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Arinto, Moscatel Graúdo, Alvarinho, or Viosinho; and reds like Castelão (the most distinctive red grape of the region), Pinot Noir, Trincadeira Preta, Alicante Bouschet, Merlot, Caladoc, Aragonez, Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Petit Verdot.

Within the estate, there is also a plot named Carvalhita, an old Castelão vineyard — from a very ancient clone of the grape — with over 75 years of age. This vineyard is special, producing wines of great complexity and elegance.
